On the eve of turning 5...

So here we are... it's the night before Harry turns 5.

This time last year, pretty much everything revolved around Harry's new little sister Ainsley. She's had a recent birthday of her own, with many incredible milestones, but this is Harry's time...

This year we've got plenty of firsts:
  • First (and likely only) sibling arrives
  • Becoming a Genie at Abra
  • Registering for Kindergarten
  • First Soccer Team (and last Little Gym Class)
  • First "real" concert with Mommy - The Dead at Verizon Center!
In addition to all of these, Harry continues to grow like a weed, learn tons of new things seemingly every day, and is about that close to reading (sometimes it seems like he already can, and he's just stringing us along!)

He's becoming an incredible big brother to Ainsley, offering advice and encouragement from his own experiences, and is having even more fun re-discovering all of his old toys that he forgot about!

As for the coming year, Spring is for Harry's new Soccer team (with Daddy as Asst Coach Kevin), Summer is for vacations, which we'll be spending some more time at the beach with family as always, and Fall will be for Kindergarten and the big yellow bus, which I for one can comfortably say I'm truly not ready for.

His many circles of friends continue to grow and to overlap as we expand furhter into the fabric of Alexandria. Soccer friends will become pool friends which will become Kindergarten friends. As we all know, the more friendly faces the better!

He's a wonderful boy who continues to make us all an extremely proud and happy family!

Happy Birthday Harry!!

So much to say, so much to say...

It's been so long since I've actually WRITTEN anything on here, I don't know where to begin.
Harry had a great time in Folly beach last week, and the entire Charleston Riverdogs stadium sang happy birthday to him on the big screen. He thought he owned the place, especially the moon bounce.
Kindergarten registration is tomorrow, so I took him for his 5 year well child exam early. He new he needed shots, and started out very brave. Then he had a finger prick for lead. Still brave. Got a Snoopy bandage. So cool. Tested high for lead. Oh no! Second skin test. Not as brave. WTF?!? Given 3 shots (bad!) and then sent to lab for blood draw. AWFUL! Full on phobia. Needed backup to hold Ainsley so I could use my skills the dentist taught me to hold him down while he fought the two phlebotomists. Turns out he does not have lead poisoning. Whew! So much trauma for the entire building though, and I'm not kidding!
Harry is otherwise normal. 20/30 vision which is normal for a 5 year old. Missed the last beep on his hearing test in his right ear so we have to get him tested again. He is 41.1 lbs which is 50%, height is also 50%. He is 42 1/2 inches. The rest of the kids in Alexandria must be well above the normal range. They keep telling me he is average height, but most kids here tower over him. Must just be those tall kids of the power elite. When we visit other areas he doesn't seem so short.
He dresses self without help, writes name and recognizes most letters, draws a person with 6 body parts, didn't know his address but I taught it to him on teh way home so we're good. He's ready to start the schoolyear!
